One night in Lompoc

Does anyone remember that '80s song "one night in Bankok"? Probably not, it was a one hit wonder.

It was 3 weeks into the California Heatwave of 2006 and I was on my last leg. The consistent heat made me loose my spirit so I said "We have to drive north" So we did one weekend.

(I think my smile is going to fall off my face in this picture. Or melt)

I think we stayed in the last hotel room available on the coast.

It was a nice break and the drive up the 101 was by far one of the most awe inspiring drives I have had the chance to take.

My man, the face of beer

So, as some of you may know. My uber talented boyfriend shot another commercial yesterday for none other than Bud Light. I will not even begin to prognosticate when it will be released. I will let you know if I have any news.

Happy Birthday Mom

My Mom was a tropper with all of the traveling that we did, her husband being a spy and all. But with raising the Amazing Mandu, Coey of Minsk and myself she still had the energy to teach at the Cambodian orphanage. They used to like the way she pronounced hamburger.

They also picked up a lot of her sayings and it strange to this day to walk through the markets to hear people calling out."Fur cuts, get your fur cuts here. Highlights, extensions, fur cuts"

Currently she is living in the Nordic woods, retired with the former international spy and I hope that she is enjoying her birthday.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Here 3; Larchmont

Here are the places in my neighborhood, in my neighborhood...

Larchmont Village.

The first time I visited Larchmont Village, I felt like I had been transported to St. Paul Minnesota. It made me a bit homesick. In fact sometimes when I feel a bit on the homesick side I take the long stroll down there to see the little shops and trees of the non palm variety.

Larchmont is home to many celebrities, James Spader I have heard among others. My co-worker says she sees Victor Garber quite a bit strolling down Larchmont Blvd.

What I also go back for, and quite often, is a slice of cheese pizza at The Village Pizzeria which has the best pizza this side of the Mississippi. I know that being from the Chi-town area I am supposed to by default love Chicago style pizza, but I have to confess that I am a New York pizza lover through and through. This is the best pizza in town; anybody who tells you anything else is full of it. You have to be good if your cheese pizza alone is phenominal. My recommendation though is that they put Tapatio on the tables.

Larchmont is also home to cute boutiques, Larchmont Village Wine and Cheese shop (great sandwhiches to go a picnicing) and will soon be home to a Pinkberry, which is all the rage here I guess.

More star sightings

Well, as I was dining across the way from Ford's Filling Station, the restuarant owned/ran by Harrison Ford's son, I saw Scott Wolf who was on Party of Five most notably, but is on Everwood and the new show The Nine, which seems like The Inside Man meets Lost. (Hopefully no Polar Bears)

I was also followed by David Krumoltz down Larchmont to the drug store. Currently he is in the show "Numb3rs" and has been in a lot of random movies.

By the way I love IMDB It is the best movie reference. So if ever you are up late at night wondering what was that name of that movie with so and so and whosits whatsits go here and never spend another sleepless night.

Little Miss

It is so great to finally walk out of a movie and say to yourself "This is why I love going to the movies" while almost crying from happiness and from laughing so hard. I loved Little Miss Sunshine. It has been so so long since I saw a movie that I truly am enamored with.

Go see it.

Although it is a movie centered around a little girl trying to get to a beauty pageant, it is not for young ears.

Here....

... are the places in my neighborhood, in my neighborhood, in my neighborhood, so here are the places in my neighborhood, they are the places that I see each day.

Since the move, I haven't really let you know the new places in my neighborhood. Now that my scenery has changed I welcome you to the first edition of

HERE ARE THE NEW PLACES IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD.

This is a view of Paramount Studios from their Bronson Gate. The first time I saw the studio, I have to admit that I was a bit dumbstruck. A number of moments since my move I have had to pinch myself, because sometimes it is hard for me to believe that I am actually living here. Not like I cried or anything, but this is what you think about when you think of Hollywood and now I get to see it every day.

My new apartment overlooks part of the lot. Unfortunately I am at work during the day, so I do not have any star sightings to add. Click Here for a historical overview. (Another can be seen on their website.)

So, far my marching infront of the studio with a sandwich board that reads "Discover Me" has not worked. So I have moved on to neighboring ..........

I AM HERE's tips for staying cool this summer

These aren't in any order:

1) Eat Watermelon. There is nothing better than eating watermelon fresh from the fridge when it is hot.

2)Go to a movie. I know this summer has been a hollywood suck fest, but all movie theaters have air conditioning.

Note: to Hollywood, could you make better movies for next year's heatwave?

3) Drink water, but not too much. Drinking too much water also depletes things that you need. Switch up to Gatorade and if you are in a bind, try this trick I learned in a restuarant.

Add half a packet of sugar to your water. You can grab a packet of sugar from Starbucks, they are everywhere.

4) Buy an ice pack and keep it in the freezer. For this summer I bought myself a Mr. Happy freezer pack. (pictured above) USE OFTEN.

5) Don't take the city bus. They are overcrowded and there isn't enough air conditioning in the world that is goign to lower 100 people's 98.6 degree body heat in that small of space.

6) Go to work and work late. They also, like the movies, have air conditioning.

7) Travel north. It is always liable to be cooler up north. Except for the Chicago to Minneapolis trip. It is never cooler in Minneapolis, the humidty becomes more tropical.

I hope these tips help you to stay cooler in these last few weeks of summer.

Do you have your own tips? Email them to: eyemheer2@yahoo.com

Random Star Sightings over the last month

When I went up north I actually saw the big dipper, but those aren't the stars you are probably interested in.

At a martini party a month or so ago I ran into Lisa Marie Presley . She is a lot tinier than I thought, which has become true for most celebrities that I have seen. She is also prettier in person, which is always good.

I ran into Mr. Seaver! Alan Thicke I alway wondered what happened to him and there he was at a golf course on the 4th of July. Other club members that I saw were....

Richard Kind and Jeff Garlin .

That is it for now.
