I am sitting at the computer taking break from writing post interview thank you notes. A phenomenon that I am new to as I have not tried looking for a job for six years.
Looking for a job, is very frustrating and is probably the reason I stayed in my old job for way too long. It is not the thank you notes that bother me. (Although, they have given me another business idea) It is the fact that I seem to always have to choose between
a) getting a phone interview or going to an interview
or
b)having a job scheduled the same exact day from the temp. agency.
Take this scenario. I have a phone interview scheduled on a Monday for a huge national company who just opened an office in Los Angeles. On that same day, I get called for a day job for this women who owns a restaurant and is looking to start her own film production company. She wants to hire someone permanently at part time with the option of fulltime once the production company starts. Wouldn't that be an awesome job, but since I am having a phone interview for a fulltime job, I stay and wait and wait for a call that never comes.
So, next week I have and interview at a company that I am really excited about, but have a week long job for the temp. angency. So here is the thing, I am always choosing between the possibilty of money fulltime or sure money for a day or week at a time.
So, as my mother would say.
"Six of one..."
What she doesn't add for the saying to be complete is "half a dozen of the other"
